We were at cougar creek on the west coast. That place was way off the beaten path back in the bush. Bathing in a frigid mountain stream was my least favorite part of the adventure. It’s beautiful country and I hope they don’t cut all the cedars down. Next time we go I want to see some of the virgin forest on the island. Those old cedars are absolutely massive.

Weather has been perfect for splitting cutting stacking. Pushing through the pain to get as much done as possible while I’m off this week. I’ll go back to work so I can rest up for the next week long firewood binge. In the piedmont of NC mild days can last deep into Nov or an ice storm can wreck all my plans.

Once it got light out found I had gotten more rain overnight - picture is of the total amount. Usually after a rain of that amount I could hear the runoff from the swamp into the drainage ditch, but not this year - which at least means it all soaked in, which is good.

    Rain 10-14-20 (with 10-13 - total).jpg

Looks like the extended forecast dictates the shut down of the cottage. No denying it, it's coming and there'll be no stopping it.

Soooo...... today- probably raise the dock boatlift and haul some (all) food back.

Dang it!!! I hate this time of year and shutting down the cottage! :headbang::headbang:

I'm probably going to throw in the towel and pull my boat out this weekend.

Staying home and doing firewood is costing too much. Bounced splits off the back window of my Tacoma 50x, but 51 was too many. Fortunately I had a connect for glass replacement, but still spendy for me. Today I hook up to the splitter, pull away and pop! Tires off the rim. It’s a mobile home wheel tire, so I had to drive to Clayton homes to pick up a new one.

Yeah, like a police lineup ?
I don't think they letcha just hop into an ambulance on your own any more. Too much drama.

Beautiful sunny day today. Walks on the beach weather. The kind of days I wish I still had the sailboat. A little breezy now though.

I'm winterizing the Ski Nautique this late afternoon. Hard freeze warnings tonight. While we might not get the actual freezing tonight with lake Michigan so close, inland there sure will be freezing. So this is the time of the year that the season is done. Next I'll be taking the boat to storage.

Got some groceries hauled back as well as lifting the dock/boat lift. Next, disconnect the water, drain the water lines, take down the mailbox, empty the fridge/freezer and rest of foodstuffs. :(

I couldn't find t-posts of any size at 3 Home Depots. I'll try Lowe's and some smaller stores tomorrow. Are they a seasonal product?
