Haven't cut the lawn or had the riding mower out of its shed since June. There's one or two spots in the shade that could use a trim and even if I use the battery mower on them I should get the rider ready to suck up leaves. Nice day for it if I don't get distracted.
No Colorado elk yet. I watched a mountain lion yesterday stalking 5 bedded mule deer. 200 yds from me his tail was as long as his body 3 feet. Today I saw a large brown black bear while driving to town for supplies he was all of 300 lbs. no elk yet
Just got back from New Hampshire where I had a nice visit with NH mountain man and Well Seasoned no fires But Not really cold yet!
Hopefully it wasnt too insane up there! I was in North Conway for the weekend, and it was a madhouse. We've had a house up there for 15 years, but Ive never been on Columbus Day weekend. I wont make that mistake again! Though, I was told last weekend was pretty bad too.
A bear hunter camped next to us told us while hunting a bowl about 5 miles away he spotted a 300” bull 3 times once at 11am yesterday. He drew is a map in the dirt we got up at 4am buddy is perched above the bowl til dark
For sure early October is not a good time to visit there if you don't like crowded areas and heavy traffic.
Moved a bit more wood today. Might be able to finish the job this week or next. It is taking much longer than normal but I'm so happy to be able to do it again. We've been swamped with offers of help and it has been greatly appreciated, but there comes a time when you need to get busy again; my body definitely needs it! Leaves are falling fast now. Probably will take a bigger hit tonight and tomorrow with rain and high wind. Forecast says we will probably see our first snowflakes of the season Friday.
