Farm implement from days gone by:

Can anyone know what this is? farmer steve ?

All I know is that it would require a lot of confidence to ride on that seat while in operation!

It is in a long abandoned homestead a few miles from our cabin. There is very old apple tree at the homestead where we have harvested many a grouse that like to dine there.

One of four shot yesterday afternoon...big male. It was perfect fall day with low 40s, sunshine and leaves falling.

Had the first real frost of the season last night. Hopefully that will knock down some bugs.

Hoping to make my way out to the shop here shortly and start building another cabinet front for the bathroom built-in.

Antique Hay Rake by John Trommer

Sulky rake. Drag it until it was full, then lift the tines and start over. I don't think you can make bales with it, put up the hay loose. There's one similar that made windrows of hay but the seat is behind the tines. The ones with the seat behind the tines is the ones I remember being used to make windrows of hay , pulled by a tractor and then a mechanica bale maker that made the little bales of hay scooping up the windrows. Back when I was a kid and there were still farms around here. Back then if you wanted to hang around you pitched in or disappeared. I did a little pitching of hay bales onto trucks and wagons.

On my hike this morning near Georgetown Colorado I stumbled upon this stud guarding his wallow

back in my truck nearing Evergreen Colorado there was a herd of forty elk 3 of which were bulls. Minutes from downtown Evergreen in a beef pasture

Nice grouse. That is what we called a dump rake. I rode/used one when I was around 10-11 years old. Like billb3 said mostly used for loose hay but we used ours for making windows for the small square baler. I Stihl see a few of the tines in use for flower pot hangers.

He could care less I was there and he did see me. Never moved for 5 minutes so I left him dreaming of his cows!

I lit a fire in the quadrafire. It's not really that cold out, 52°, but my wife wanted a fire and I wanted to dry my boots out. :coldfire:

We finally got a little bit of rain. Almost half of an inch. Not a drought ending amount but might help some plants weather Winter a little better before they go dormant and can't use the rain.

Management is still giving out a ton of overtime but they have 20 assemblers out with COVID. Wisconsin is the nations COVID hotspot I just read. Good thing I’m in Colorado I don’t want that crap

I'm sorry to hear. Also, if you happen to travel north maybe we could have lunch or coffee and say hello.
