Started packing my Tacoma for my second trip to the great state of Colorado

Going to wander/hike for a week then head down to the mountains west of Trinidad to help a long time friend kill an elk. When I get back, I best be stocking the garage full of oak!

Got some trim put up last night, all I can do for now until I get a cabinet frame made for our small closet.

Gorgeous day outside....too bad I'm stuck inside all day. Think I might light up the fire pit tonight and sit still for a while.

Went hunting this morning. Hooray! I was asked how many deer I saw so sad I saw somewhere around 6 but I'm pretty sure there were a half dozen of them, all does and fawns.

NWS has predicted a La Niña winter for the US this year. Colder and stormier over the north and Canada. Warmer and less stormy in the south. Oh joy.

That works out well for us as the living room is in the south of the house and so should be warmer.....

Strong winds,, rain and lost power yesterday. Felt bad for Barbara. She is very use to a things being the same most days. Glad it came back on before dark. Some in the state still without power. Only lost some roof shingles here at home that I will be fixing this weekend.

We had a big yellow jacket infestation in the wall cavity and under a gutter. I called in a pro exterminator to take care of it, along with two other smaller active nests.

He used a duster and followed up with aerosol on all entry points. I could not believe the hundreds of yj's that came out of the nest. It was unreal. By the time he finished, almost all activity had stopped. By supper time, all quiet. Hats of to the tech and it was worth every penny for a piece of mind. Box store spray would have been pointless. Exterior nest to the right of the downspout.

Fire pit didn't happen tonight. Piddled around in the shop a little....got TS blade changed and planer knives changed. Last TS blade lasted 5 years....pretty dang good for as much work as that tool gets.

I find changing planer and jointer knives are not the most fun things to do in the shop but well worth the effort.

Acorns are bombarding my house tonight. All kinds of weird dings off in the distance. Can’t tell if it’s deer crossing the fence, or more acorns. Monster acorn dump from white oaks this year, so the deer and turkeys should be set for winter.

Maybe I should call him? Found a big nest in one of my hunting blinds. I don't use that one for bow hunting so will wait. It will get cold enough so I can tackle it easy before rifle season.

Throw a couple bug bombs in there, maybe? Depends on how sealed up it is.

Don't think it would work too good as it is not sealed at all; rather open. But I'll bet some of that foamy stuff will work. But if I do it while the air is cold it shouldn't be a problem. Might be able to even move it outside.

I've found that the spray cans with the long range spray work very well and keep you at a safe distance from the bastards.
