So I was at the PX today and found a surprise in the clearance cart. 8 Oregon 14” bars for $3.13 each. Even though I don’t prefer the chain tensioner built into them, I couldn’t pass up this deal.
You guys may want to check your local walmarts as well. I found: 1 gallon gas cans with funnels for about $5 a can 2 gallon for $10 (bought a few of the 1 gal) VP racing 50/1 oil mix for about $1 a bottle VP SAE oil for $2 a quart Mechanic in a bottle for 75 cents Stabil for 75 cents VP racing Premix 50/1 for $2/ quart Field sharpening kits for $5 Cheap chains 2 pack 14" for my Echo for $6 for 2 And the last trip to a different store: Cheap bar and chain combos for $3-5 each. I bought all they had for my 14" echo as normally this is a limbing saw and I will get into rocks or dirt pretty easy, at these prices, I will just throw the chain away and get another, not worth the time to try and sharpen. Leather work gloves for $2/ pair 100 ft Hosezilla 5/8" hose for $15 Bought a couple buckets of the Chemical guys car cleaning buckets reg $50 for $20 as 2 of the bottles inside are worth more than $20 and the rest is free... They also had a bunch of spark plugs and other clearance stuff that I didn't have my needed once easily accessible to purchase. They did have cases of 2 packs of 8" and 12" chains and the bar and chain combos or just a few bucks, just no need for 8,10 or 12" chains for saws I don't have or want.
I actually bought it for the fuel additives. My maintenance guy in our work plaza just trashed a electric start toro snowblower that he couldn't get running last year 1 time. Who knows what he did or didn't do to it, so a little mechanic in a bottle will fix all the problems...it says it right on the bottle....
My friend in New Jersey works on small engines. He told me that often the problem is junked carbs from leaving old fuel in the tanks. Cleaning the carb and many are good to go.
