Guy was pulling this down a side street in town and pulled into a gas station. Since I'm converting my 22 ton White/MTD horizontal/ vertical splitter to a push through, I figured I would ask him a few questions.

He just listed his house because he had a "family issue" and was moving stuff out. He said he was thinking of selling. I paid $400, hopefully it works well. He literally just dropped it off. It runs but has a slow hydraulic leak at the rod end of the cylinder. It has an old snowblower motor, can be towed from both ends. Cylinder has long enough hoses to be run from a tractor, since the old Wisconsin died on him a few years ago (prior to snowblower motor) and he needed to finish one more cord. It is supposedly made from Montgomery Ward components since his buddy build them for the chain.

I don't think I got hurt and think I can easily get my $ back after using it this season. I'll post more pics tomorrow.

Looks gooder from here. Should work well for you and I agree it will be hard to get hurt on it, unless you get a finger or hand in the way.

You got a good deal! That will always be worth $600 around here! What’s with the hydraulic hoses wrapped around the tank?

I am pretty sure those are the hoses for connecting to the remotes on the tractor when he used it that way. I'll go over it better today, it was a truly impulse purchase.

Need to lengthen the hitch, not a problem as there is 12" extra tongue length. Just need to drill another 5/8" hole, but the bolt needs to come through from the other side since it limits the jack rotation and locking in the transport position. Also, tongue can be swapped and splitter can be pulled from other end.

It has 3/4" hoses and that really helps cycle time compared to my White 22 ton horz/vert.

The axle is able to be shifted forward and backwards. The wheel/beam height is also adjustable.

First logs through and since this is the first time I've used a push-through design I have to say I'm impressed! Over all, I'm pretty dang stoked about having a second splitter and hopefully finishing up my welding on my converting of the White with a 4 way this week.

Push through splitters are the way to go. Push right into a pile, a conveyor, a trailer, etc. Pieces that don’t fully split the last inch or two can be finished off by pushing through with the next piece behind it.

Also you can weld some dots onto push plate so those curvy rounds split better!!

I noticed the tyres too; most of the splitters sold don't really have highway speed rated tyres; who wants to pull a splitter along at 45 mph?

Don't all ratings have a 25% safety factor calculated in to the design?;)

I think I'd keep that and sell the White as is.

There are a few issues that are popping up with the "new to me" splitter. It spit out the LoveJoy coupler. Well, silly me, he had a separate mount for the pump, and the motor mount is a 2"x10" piece of treated dimensional lumber.

Current state while making and crude...and I mean crude, pump, LoveJoy to engine mount.

    20201013_151351.jpg

Bottom piece is all I could find of the old coupler, top is new.

Will update once closer to finish line.
