Google Lens for identifying wood

    I’m using the google lens on my phone and it really helps with identifying trees. It’s really simple to use as well. Just bring up the app and take a picture and it shows you what you’re dealing with.

    It definitely does work on some things. I tried to use it on a wood ID based on a picture here and it had no clue.

    I have plantsnap, treeid and VTree . They work on distinct leaf shapes, but when you are trying to sort out oaks, not so much.

    In my region there’s only 3 decent firewood trees to know. Elm, ash and hackberry. Then there’s the occasional yard tree that I hardly ever get a chance at
