It crossed my mind that recently someone asked about turkey buzzards. These were caught with a trail cam.

Cool pictures. Glad it’s not the black vultures, they are out of hand, can’t believe they are still protected under the migratory bird act. The amount of harm they cause to livestock and pets, not to mention with their aggression are stealing the carrion from the turkey vultures that found it first.

I saw one on the interstate the other day. He was trying to swoop down to get something but must have decided that the traffic was too busy.

They were eating a dead animal. Also that is not a salt block in the picture.

    Dennis,
Yup, they are ugly, but are also great flyers as they soar above looking for anything they can get (especially dead!).
There is a large landfill near the GM Orion Plant where they gather by the dozens. Competition for the
Seaguls. Not uncommon to see them most any day.

I see them and the black vultures together around road kill quite often.

I had these 2 sitting on my deck rail back in April. There was also a turkey vulture up on the roof. They crapped all over the railing and it was a pain in the butt to wash off. dirty birds lol

Interesting . We have a massive turkey buzzard population but I’ve never seen that variety. Maybe soon to come. We never saw fisher eagles or cormorants here till 5-10 years ago. Now almost daily
