Great work. Do you scatter wood crumbs prior to mounding the wood to lessen the dirt/mud factor? Time to fill in the void!
Yes. There will be a pile of debris under the splitter so I spread it out more evenly and it keeps the wood pretty clean
So it was a tough weekend planning and maximizing my time as my son had a baseball tournament. Thankfully it was 2 towns over and just over the border from some homes that had orders for wood. I was able to plan deliveries really close to the complex just before each of his three games. I now sit at 44 cords out of the yard since last Friday. My phone keeps alerting me to more people looking for wood though and I currently sit at 56 cords on order. Here’s a pic of a 2 cord load that went out today
Pretty impressed that you stack your loads. I’m sure it’s to maximize the truck, but not many firewood guys do that. Do you ever have customers claim they were shorted?
It is just the back row that is stacked. The rest is thrown in. Through the years, I have had a couple complaints of shortages and I went back with more to satisfy them. It is mind boggling though how many people have no idea how much a cord of wood actually is. The most common thing I hear from new customers is "are you sure that's all mine?"
Right! Easy to order a cord, harder to stack it especially when you can't dump it near the final destination. Last year I sold three cords to a neighbor. That's nine trips for my Tacoma. After load five, the husband and wife duo doing the stacking were second guessing their purchase. It all worked out in the end as they had about a 1/3 of a cord at the end of the burn season.
Just completed weekend 3 delivering firewood. I’ve put 996 miles on my dump truck and have delivered 68.5 cords so far with 55 more on order. I’m flipping beat!
Doing just 8 or 9 cord for myself is making me tired. Great work jrider .. You and others really earn your money.
