Thats great. Its funny even with people its a happy day when they start drinking, eating and pooping again.
He's even better today. It will be a while as the drugs he's on purposely make him more lethargic. That will help him heal.
He's doing even better today. He was running around while we were playing with Hayden in the yard today. He's eating even more, so we're pretty happy at his progress. The swelling is going down on his left cheek where they took the mass from
Welp folks... meet lil Bub. He's 10 yrs old and is a pom/eskie mix. After losing Giz (an eskie) last month, we were sure that was it. This little guy showed up at a local humane society 2 days ago and, well, ya know. He has a degenerative collapsing trachea issue, that's common with small dogs... horking and wheezing, etc... but, we just couldn't get past how much he looked like a sandy colored mini Giz... So far he loves to walk, doesn't bark (wow) and seems pretty well settled here already. Anyone with experience with a small dog dealing with the collapsing trachea issue... I'm all ears. Happy lady...
This thread is hilarious..... I guess I can throw mine on here too. These 2 are mortal enemies as you can tell... The dog is Bella, the cat is Simon.
Just a tad ignoring going on, eh Steve. No Screeching Stinster? He looks like Giz's brother. Good on ya's.
Got word back from the vets office yesterday. It's a melanoma for Badger. We'll talk with the surgeon that operated on Badger on Monday. We're not putting him through chemotherapy. There's apparently a vaccination called oncet that might work. The vet person said that they think they think they got all of it, so hopefully that's the case. With our first English lab, Farley, he had a toe taken due to a tumor and we think that was melanoma as well. He lived till almost 17 yrs old, and he had that surgery at 10 yrs old as well. Badger's a tough dog and is extremely resilient. I'll let you all know more after we talk with the surgeon.
"No Screeching Stinster?" ... I know... it's weird. Really weird. So that's what cars and trucks and planes sound like outside...
Congratulations VV and Bumpah! Lil Bub is a lucky boy!! And I totally see it, Sandy's color and Giz's coat. He's adorable I'm not familiar with trach collapse but I see you already have a harness for him
I hope they got it all. I can understand putting him thru chemo. I had a Lab/Samoyed that had a toe taken off due to cancer also. I don't really remember how old he was at that time, problby between 7 and 10. He lived to be 14.
We decided we liked "Buddy" better than Bubba... we were calling him Buddy anyway. He's my new shadow. Honey... does Buddy make my azz look bigger? "Yes... Yes he does... and, maybe you should lose some of that azz"...
Did you do radiation or any other treatment? Doc is only giving Badger months with no extra treatment.
No other treatment besides removing the toe. Apparently they got it all and it hadn't spread to other parts of his body. After the tests came back they probably gave me the suggestion that if I wanted to be sure that I could take him down to Tufts in MA. But I would not have put him thru chemo anyway so didn't take him to specialists.
