Nice neighbor. I have been really blessed to have awesome neighbors here in Ohio. Nearest one is probably 300 yards or so away.

I really enjoyed all the posts and all the wood you cut up. Looks like a lot of work, but I think it's the best kind of work! A log splitter would be nice, but even with my splitter sometimes I leave it in the garage and go at my stacks with the Fiskars. Just feels good to hack away at it!

    Awesome neighbor you have there!

Thanks Nate and agreed. There’s something about the entire process that rewarding. I think a lot of it for me is being outdoors and active.

Did more work today! I moved all the wood that I had cut this week and a few rounds from a number of weeks ago. All the wood is on the back part of our land and some has been split and stacked.

Not the neatest stacks, but it’ll get split soon and moved to the other rack piced above.

Some big rounds here! Also some stubs and ugs; I’ll burn anything as long as it’s not rotten or wet.

My wife and I went on a quick hike yesterday morning to check out what’s left back in the woods where they logged. Plenty back there to pick from! I need to process all the above before I get more.

Thanks! I've got some splitting and stacking in my future. Thankfully, the cooler weather will make that process easier.

Hey at least most of it is off the ground. I am in need of another score of something. Just moved a bunch splits to the wood shed, need to refill those racks!

I have HAD Neighbors like that, fortunately, not any more, we have some Excellent neighbors, and when the Power company de-energized our neighborhood for over a eek because of the fire danger, it really showed.

I am Very Thankful to have the neighbors that we do.

Anyone know what kind of oak the darker splits are?

Assuming Red Oak on the right here:

Could be pin oak. Ive recently processed some and notice the heartwood is darker. Does it smell like manure? If so its pin oak.

Great way to spend a few hours on our day off; I split, my wife stacked. We both like our respective tasks!

Almost 5 skids double row stacked.

    More to split:

LOL! Thanks Brad! She loves that task! According to her, my stacking isn't as neat or straight. I tend to agree!

It's interested how a little "drying time" helps with some of those larger rounds. A few weeks back, I could not bust through them; the Fiskars would just sink in with no cracking. The logs had been recently bucked. After sitting out for a month or so, they were still a bit of work to split, but they split.

What species of tree? Funny you say that. I find fresh cut splits easier than if the ends start to check. Main reason ive been spitting ASAP.

I agree! And with all the craziness in the world right now, it’s a good time to reflect on all we have that’s going right in our lives. Sometimes, it’s the simple things.

It was some of the Oak. I couldn’t make a dent. Well, truth be told...all I could make was a dent!

I have some rounds in my lower stacks I’ll take a pic of this weekend.

Not the easiest to split. Still took a good number of chops with the Fiskars to bust it apart.

Is that red maple? Try storing the rounds vertical so one end stays wet. Split the wet end. Ive had the same problem and discovered this trick and it worked great.

Brad, I'll give that a go! Rain in the forecast this week, so I can "make the rounds" and adjust those!

    I'll show myself out.....

  That was a good one! The past several months my MO has been to split wood within a few days of bucking. Had a couple PU fulls of red maple rounds that sat too long and were a b@#%h to split months later.
