I was able to talk to a contact and found an exclusive cutting site. I know what I think it is, curious if others agree. One on the left Two on the bottom, not the Cherries
Not sure about it. We’ll see some suggestions soon. Here’s the real deal BL that jo191145 scarfed up- A little loco
Looks like ash or hickory bark to me, but hopefully it turns out to be bl. It’s good wood anyway I look at it.
I'm thinking based on your photos that you have some butternut logs. Definitely not black locust. It may be walnut but what little I could see of the ends of the logs didn't show the dark heartwood.
Originally was told I could cut there. Just received notice that the big boss said no. Too much liability. I guess they will rot away. Oh well, i tried. So much for an easy score.
The wood with the diamond patterns on it might be eastern cottonwood. Could you drag the logs out and cut them somewhere where liability is less of a concern ?
No, its in the middle of a large commercial property. I'd have to drag them through several hundred yards of dirt roads. Its also in the town i work in which is 42 miles from my house. Not worth the hassle if its Cottonwood.
