Well, I don't believe everything I see on the "net"
    ;)

I think the man in charge figured I needed a little reminder that I should use them.

Honestly, after I prepped the saw I started in without my PPE, and then stopped and a little voice said.. "You brought that equipment for a reason, it'll do you no good sitting on the quad" so I went back and put on the gear.

I've heard it said that GOD protects fools and idiots.. Guess I've got all the bases covered.

Ok, so no rain today apparently. Finally. It might rain this evening though....

I lit the quadrafire last night. My wife requested a fire, so I obliged. We had plenty of old mail in the stove for starters, and 4 splits of silver maple kept the house nice and warm all night.

I guess that cold front finally made it through.
Was 74ºF overnight and still 74ºF at 6AM.
    It's now 65ºF at 10AM
    It's getting a little chilly.

All that rain curved around and missed us. Good; we don't need more now.

Afternoon all. Started the day in the 50s and 60 right now. That is suppose to be our high. Chaz has been off this week and this is what we have been working on.
More Chaz than me to be honest.
We bought 2 cords in mid July. But it had to be split at least one more time.

That shows the last of the pile as of a little bit ago. The right side of the pile on the ground is twisty, ugly stuff for in the middle. The pile right behind is going in the shoulder season stack.

Two rows, 5' high = 2 cords. This is for next year.

Out of work a little early today. I picked up a bunch of cut up limbs that were out back. Sugar maple, cherry, honey locust, and hemlock on top.

I'm pretty sure these are ash trees with EAB. Many years of fire wood here.

This is what I need to process. About a cord here. Much is ready for the stack, some needs to be cut shorter or split.

I hate being stopped in my car. She shakes like a jackhammer. Very uncomfortable.

    Myself as well
    :dex:

And yes.. I feel I've been blessed with more than I deserve. But I am extremely grateful for each blessing.
    :)

I was unaware of Chazsbetterhalf taking pics..
    :picard:

I'd have put on a buZZsaw BRAD tux had I known.

2 more days off.. I'm fairly certain I can hit 3+ cord to wrap up the week.

Then my best friend gets the splitter to finish filling in his rows.

Already eyeing up some more trees (ash) to fell in the same work area.
    :binoculars:

That clearing cost me time and money.. I'll work it all I can.

Yeah.. I was worried about next year's wood when on the off-shift. We discussed it.. and it's still cheaper than fuel oil

I went to Lowes this morning to buy lumber. I was across the parking lot and went to back up and BOOM, the apparent remaining two power steering box bolts snapped. $125 tow home, and attempt to fix it. I was fighting to try and get the snapped bolts out, gave up and bought a new box for $125. After getting everything out, my shoulders were trashed, and I couldnt hold the heavy box up to start the threads by myself. Gonna try again in the morning. I need to get new lumber, and more importantly, I have about a cord of locust I need to pick up from a guy on another forums house!

So happy my wife decided against a new truck last weekend.
