Wood pellets, like sawdust, would tend to rob the soil of nitrogen initially. But the longer term benefit would be improved soil carbon, better water retention and more earthworm activity. The alfalfa pellets he referred to would have been rich in nitrogen. If you have time, this video addresses soil carbon.
Awesome! I don't have rain here water like other places do but anything to help the soil retain moisture would help. Might even try horse alfalfa pellets though it looks like they need more water than we get. Anything to keep down the mud a bit will help
I wonder if the benefits outweigh the possibility of bringing termites into closer proximity of the home (assuming UNBURNED pellets)?
