Got my basement filled last week and the dehumidifier is running so I got another load of logs on Thursday.
Mostly hard maple with a few oak and birch thrown in. A few are hollow or punky but the vast majority are perfect.

It was pretty hot the last few days so I didn't go at it too hard.

I got about 1 1/3 rows done so far. It's supposed to rain tomorrow and showers the next three days so this might be it for awhile.

Nice Chris! I'll wait for some really cool weather to do that. I really like to work in 20's and 30's for temperature.

I used to always do it in the cooler weather, even sometimes in the winter, but I find now I can take the heat better than the cold.
I hate cold with a passion more and more as I get older.

Well, I can't take the cold like I used to but the heat really beats me up. Not sure I could live well without air conditioning any more unless I move back north but at our age and physical condition I can't see moving now.

I'll probably have it done in 3 or 4 weeks. I'll go out after work for a couple of hours weather permitting and then on weekends.
There's usually around seven cords in a load, give or take.

A thousand CDN. It would cost me at least three times that to heat the house by any other means to the nice temps. I enjoy in the winter.

Halfway through the pile now. Four rows in the shed, three of those from this load.

Finally done. The weather cooperated pretty good after work during the weeks I was cutting. A bit if rain set me back today for a few hours.

Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny so the last part of the job is cleaning up the mess.

In the picture with the bark and saw chips you can see the path I keep mowed through the hay field to the neighbors. I was walking back from their house one afternoon this summer and stopped and looked in the distance at his neat covered woodpiles.
I then turned back to them and said I'm not afraid to admit I like admiring another man's wood.
Got a chuckle out of them.
It's something I notice wherever I go and encounter stacks of wood.

Chris F do you think the dehumidifier in the basement has much effect on the wood? I have been running one and thinking about adding a fan.
