Yesterday I had a c-scan and was scheduled to see the doctor next Tuesday and hopefully get the good news that I could stop wearing this cussed neck brace. Then when I got home there was a message on the phone that the appointment had to be re-scheduled. GRRRRRRRRRRR. So now wait until the 17th... Needless to say, that did upset me a bit, but guess I have to live with it. At least the weather will be cooling so maybe can get outdoors more but hunting is still up in the air. That starts in only 4 weeks from today and I have not been able to practice at all.

Currently at UC Davis waiting for our 9 year old son to get out of surgery. Has a bone infection in his ear, they are removing it and installing tubes as well as cleaning up the adenoids to aid in drainage. We are on hour 5 of surgery. Hoping and praying for the best!

edit- Isn’t God funny...I hit reply and immediately received a text notification that he just moved to recovery. Apparently posting on fhc is like a speed dial to you prayer warriors!

7EE1D907-2551-472B-B287-9D9A423AD7B5.jpeg Braxton is doing really well. Very good recovery, a lesson for Dad in patience. A little more than expected, but great doctors and great work. Thank you guys, it means a lot.:salute::pain:

And if anyone likes pictures- they cut a lot of his ear to gain access. It’s healing well so far, another surgery in 6-8 months to install hardware.

Hang in there, Braxton! Looks like he'll have a secret scar. I hope it doesn't hurt too badly.

A little late to the party, but I fit a patient with a LA Wite frame neck brace. Pretty good design and more comfortable than most. I use an aspen vista adjustable for most my patients with a cspine fx. Neck braces are not fun, and c spine is difficult as you are in serious territory.

I pray for a quick recovery Brother and you get to throw that thing in the trash!

I have the aspen vista. It would seem to me they could greatly improve the padding. It can get pretty aggravating especially if you start to sweat at all. Also the padding does not last long as it starts to fray the first time or two that it is worn. I have very sensitive skin so maybe that makes it worse.

They definitely had more of a problem than was thought. A 3 hour surgery turned out to be 9-10 hours. Not only fusion bot I now have some titanium holding my bones together.

We would often trace the pads on a better material and replace them, using the originals for shower time or to swap while washing the others. Either way they are a pain. I did my fair share of somi and minerva braces those are the steps below a halo. Not fun at all!

Strange you mention showering with the brace. They gave me a hard brace to wear in the shower, but I hate that one even more than the vista.
