Can anyone help me id this wood? Had a big storm come through last friday night and knocked ALOT of trees down around me. A lady down the road caught me running the saw and asked if I'd clean up a tree that came down in her yard. 0831201909_Film3.jpg 0831201910_Film3.jpg

Sweet! I thought the heartwood seemed a little too light colored to be cherry. This is a huge cherry tree. Guessing between 1 1/2 to 2 cords of wood.

Cherry makes some great firewood. What’s the DBH of the trunk?

Cherry smells great when you split it! Good firewood good for the smoker too!

Ill have to take some measurements of the tree tomorrow. Trees are down all over here in my neck of the woods. An apple orchard just down the road from me had a bunch of apple trees blown over too.

That storm must have went right through where you live. Fortunately it missed us.

That is pretty good size for cherry here. I burn it but it is not a good wood for night or any long fire.
