About 4 yesterday afternoon our phones beeped with a tornado warning. Ten minutes later power out. Lots of lightning, heavy rain and some wind at our place, but no trees. We took a ride shortly after and trees limbs down. Broken utility pole. Went for fast food supper take out later and roads were a mess with trees wires down. No pics but ill get some today. Power and internet back on about ten last night. Thought we'd bet out for days. No internet/TV this morning. Just came back on. Just recovering from Isaias.

If there was almost impossible to see. We normally dont get anything bigger than an EF1-2, but with lots of trees and homes close proximinty they make a mess. Its not like what your see in the midwest...houses/buildings blown apart, lots of debris etc.

    Glad you had no damage.

Our county and neighboring county were issued a tornado watch advisory.

Saw power company trucks staged roadside on my way home. So I got out the generator, filled it and got it running.. just in case.

After a light rain while I got things prepared, it rained a bit for an hour or so, then beautiful out with blue skies.

So I put everything away after running the gen carb dry.

I "liked" the fact that you got through with no loss or damage! Apparently no reports of losses from other members. Also a good thing!

It missed me but it was a heck of a storm. My girlfriend who works down in Brads area was whisked to the basement.
I thought it was heading for me. Whenever I see a storm to my west I perk up. But it went southwest and railed on Brads area instead.
jrider that’s a funny. Got a good chuckle out of that. Luckily I found a solution. I found a FB listing for a tree guy in Brads town on FB. Common yes but what stuck out was every picture on the ad was of a Black Locust tree getting chopped up. I had no idea they were so prevalent in that area. Checked all his other listings and he sells no firewood ;)
So Brad, in the furtherance of your hoarding career I’m willing to be the conduit to hook you two up. He cuts em down you haul em home ;)
Ready to step it up a notch? LOL

That's pretty good to get power back that fast!

That's what ensured that your power didn't go out! If you hadn't checked the gen, you'd have lost it for sure!

    How true
    :loco:

It's always good to get it out and fire it up for a bit. We are forecast for storms through tomorrow night.

    Sunday I'll drain the gas.

Tail end of those storms that went thru CT went thru here. Mostly dissipated and we didn't get much out of it. To the west of me the lightning strikes were wicked intense.

Some pics i snapped around noon today. Never made it to the area hit real bad.
Right around the corner from us. IMG_2957.JPG IMG_2958.JPG
    Couple streets down IMG_2959.JPG IMG_2960.JPG IMG_2961.JPG
    Random tree damage IMG_2963.JPG IMG_2966.JPG IMG_2967.JPG
this road was partly blocked last evening. Landscape crew cleaning it up. IMG_2964.JPG
Went down a road that was blocked last night. Made it so far but had to turn off. Light not working and taped off. Drove by this. Still a common sight...pile of brush from Isaias. Was that locust? Had to turn around and grab some logs. If you had locust mania you'd understand! :loco:  IMG_2968.JPG IMG_2969.JPG
One news station said there was over 50 streets in my town still blocked as of this morning. I didnt have time to venture into the badly hit areas, but am told its a lot worse. Of the towns affected by it, mine was the second worse. Havent determined if tornado or not. NWS will announce by ten tonight if tornado or straight line winds.

No I haven’t. I should find his business card and call him back. When this chimney gets done LOL one thing at a time is my new motto. I noticed my phone somehow switched itself to not accepting calls from people in the address book,,,and he’s not in it. I’ve missed a lot of calls :) woops

It’s funny you mention stepping down a notch. I said the same thing tonight on my and Odin’s nightly jaunt into the processing area. Yesterday I toured the big blowdown form the last storm on my moms property. Beautiful sugar maples and a red oak. Never get over there when firewoodin. Noticed a bunch of small dead ash that need to come down too.
Then I noticed another four big ash that need to come down, Geesh, a little overwhelming at times. Well time I’ve got, no rush.

Confirmed EF1 tornado. Went through the bad area of town and neighboring town. Lots of wires down. Some roads blocked still/detours. Wood galore. Snapped off tree tops classic of tornado damage. Went through another section of town i couldnt access yesterday and real bad. Biggest tree i saw uprooted was this red oak. Has to be close to 36" trunk. Practically every yard in the ravaged areas had some type of free damage/brush piled by the road. IMG_2974.JPG
Talked to a couple crews. One just doing utility poles, the other a tree service attached to a lineman crew. Both were from Maine.

Nasty for sure. It really does not matter if tornado or straight line winds. What matters is how much damage.
