...so there's more room in the yard for firewood! Notice the dead grass next to the stack... That's where my 25' Wellcraft sat on stands and blocks. Now she's gone, and I can start stacking in her place. It's a straight shot down the property line for about 120 feet, and I'll make it my goal to have a good firewood fence by this time next year. Maybe sooner if this heat and humidity ever ends.
Nice to have more room? Im overflowing with wood. Can i store some there? Looking forward to seeing the hoard grow.
Yes. It's maple bark, and remarkably it didn't budge during the tropical storm. We'll see how she holds up over the winter.
I like to say that the people that say that about boats, are either using them incorrectly, or not at all.
120 feet of firewood would be glorious! Big boats can be costly, little aluminum boats with 2 stroke engines, not so much.
As a frequent boater, in small craft, I can say there is definitely truth in the other saying, happiness and enjoyment of a boat is inversely proportional to the water line length. It always explained the marinas full of huge boats that never moved all summer, while I continue to have to go around them almost daily. My favorite time of year was in late September when the docks finally came out and I had the river to myself, with only a few random commercial fishermen to avoid
Back a few years now, when fuel (especially at the marina) got horribly expensive it was common for people to use their boat as a cottage and never go anywhere with it. There were a few that never bothered putting them in the water and found the worst thing to do to a boat is not use it. Even my sailboat on a mooring would grow a long crop of algae even with the ablative paint on the hull and would be slow as molasses until you cleaned it off.
