How many remember?

I remember him well. The Ed Sullivan show didn't want to show all his moves as some felt they were obscene. I liked Blueberry Hill, but didn't like the Hound dog song. He died right about the time he was scheduled to perform at the Augusta Me. Civic Center. Darn drugs.

Wasn't born yet. I remember growing up alot of people made a big deal about that old guy. Some older women had mini shrines to him it seemed. And there were two camps, young vs old Elvis.

It makes me feel old now that I'm the age of that old guy when he passed away.

 

Died @ 42.. Silly old man


My aunt was one of those women that mourned for months if not years.


It's still kinda shocking how so many died so young then (primarily drug/ alcohol related), and yet Ozzy and many other 70's rockers are still around.


But whether I feel that I feel he was the "King of R&R" is pretty irrelevant. As stated, he and many others led to R&R from the Blues that was the catalyst.

I remember came across radio on way too Woodstock VT. My mom mentioned her sister would be devastated.

 

I was never more than a very casual Elvis observer. Still, it was an amazing, but tragic, rags to riches story!
