The leaves look like Elm. Try splitting a round, you’ll know if it’s Elm

The leaves are from a different log not from the same wood

Black locust? I’ve never had any of that but the bark has a rope-like pattern.

It was as in a patch with hedge but the bark isn’t the same nor is it as vibrant an orange color. That’s why my first thought was mulberry

Here it is next to some of the hedge I got from the same area. The hedge is on the left.

I almost thought Honey Locust myself, though I've never scored any personally. Doesn't look like any of the Black Locust I've ever gotten. Whatever it is, it looks like a relatively fast grower. Is it really dense?

Its mulberry. It seasons quick and burns super hot, but be warned, it shoots sparks like a machine gun when you open the door of the burner. It shoots sparks that shoot sparks that shoot sparks. Its in the same family as hedge and black locust. (yellow heartwood)

It’s pretty dense. Honey locust would have thorns and I didn’t see any on the rest of the tree. There were no leaves either or I would’ve posted pics.

I was hoping that’s what it was and I hope you’re right. Hedge sparks like crazy too and I burn a lot of that.

There are thorn-less varieties I've heard. Looks like a nice score regardless.

Yeah I’m not complaining. It was all going in a burn pile so I’m glad I got there in time.

I would say mulberry based on bark and yellow heartwood although the center color throws me. Fresh cut has the yellow heartwood but the yellow turns to a deep reddish brown. Ive only scored a small amount as its a scarce tree around here. It has been all smaller diameter wood.
