I do really like the truck however. Don't have that money to spend regardless though

I just had a guy dump five face cord of firewood for me. Brand new dump trailer, brand new Ford F-250. I asked him what was different about this truck than his last one he had last year. “This one has a lot of extra stuff and they went with a new injection system on the diesel.” So he showed me the interior. Wow. Full glass roof. I said, “This must be an $80,000 truck then.” Yup, a little higher than that. o_O Firewood is NOT his first job! Good guy. Working hard while he is young to get ahead.

TrinitySouth99 I love horses too. I told my wife and daughter; the day we can take 2 $100 at the beginning of month and set it on fire! Then we can afford a horse!!

but if the neighbor gets her second one and then they play in my front yard.. it’s a win

Not to pick on the guy, but it's going to be hard to get ahead making that kind of truck payment.....which is probably close to 1,100 a month for 7 years.

Take that same money and invest it over 7 years and and he'd have close to $150K....that's a real close to a quarter million dollar swing....for a truck.

Oh, I know. I completely understand what you mean. I had a hard time justifying spending 27K on this last truck I bought. The next one will probably be closer to 20-22K. I could afford a more expensive truck, not 80K. But like you say, what financial sense does it make. To each his own though. This guy is smart, down to earth, nice guy. He works for a natural gas company in a high skill job. Makes a good salary. Plus processes firewood on the side to get further ahead. Good for him.

I remember when $80k would get you a nice house. If it makes money for him then it’s not such a big deal. The problem is it hard to buy a stripped truck anymore with all the offerings they stick in there.

It has to be harder getting ahead spending like that! When I was young (yes, a long time ago) I worked hard and drove older vehicles.

Ah. The good old days when a dollar was worth something. Inflation sucks.

And we bought a car about a month before our wedding. Actually I gave Judy a $100 bill on Friday night (I had to work that Saturday) and told her to look for a car. She picked me up with our new-to-us car and gave me the $10 she had left over.

Picked more sweet corn then stopped off at the peach tree. some of those had to come off before the bugs and hummingbirds find them. They will still taste good.

I talked to a couple orchards and they expect to start picking late next week. I need to buy some as the freeze got most of ours.

Those years the XLT wasn't really much more than a xl with carpeting, power windows and a cloth seat. Since that was the last of the old body style, the factory maybe just used what they had left.

I bought some awesome local farmers grown corn this week. It was absolutely delicious.

Regarding hummingbirds and fruit, I am pretty sure that they won't go after fruit, that is unless insects or other critters got to the fruit first to open them up to have juices drip out.

The only thing in that picture that made me think XL was the non chrome grill...but nothing says that hasn't been replaced in the last 25 years...

They eat fruit flies and aphids.
But given their fondness for sugar water if a peach was dripping wet I wouldn't be surprised to see one quench their thirst.
