Most of my firewooding is done in the cooler months but...... We had a strong storm blow thru last evening. Our biggest Apple tree took a direct wind hit. Mrs FS and I took a ride around the block early this morning and found a nice mostly dead hickory blocking the road. Came home and got the 261 and helped my township road crew out. Figured they were busy cleaning up the main roads. Took the hickory for payment. :)

I had drug the boss away from her coffee for the ride. She wouldn't have been to happy sitting and watching me cut up a tree for 40 minutes. I would have taken a saw if I had been solo. Only 4 minutes from the house. Had to get my oranges cones too.

You to the town crew— “ it’s ok guys, I just want to do my part to help the town”

You afterward— * fist pumping the whole rest of afternoon.

It's great when you can help out. It's also great when you get paid with some hickory.

Yep the first thing I thought of was some good smoking wood. Either way smoking wood or firewood you did good.

A basement full of applewood was the best smell ever. It’s been a while since I’ve had some though. And I’m not complaining. They are tons of work to process.

Right up from us, I think it was Lake Meade Road, there’s a whole bunch of huge trees that were uprooted. None blocked passage.
