could be chestnut oak if you think it is oak chestnut usually are about done with flower/buds this time of year, might have some chestnuts/remnants left.
Cool. Never saw one before. Trunk sure looked like oak but I had no idea oak leaves could be so different. Neighbors property, good half mile from home. He can keep it Thanks folks.
It it is a nice specimen. I got tons of oak already tho. Was hoping it was an exotic somthinorother. LOL
There are are a large number a oak varieties. In CT, we see the usual white and red. Chestnut and chinkapin are the only other oaks I can readily identify, but I know there more than just these usual suspects
