The Uncle had about 4 trees he needed cut down. That was endanger of falling on either his house or his sheds. I cut one down a couple weeks ago that was precut and let a 15 foot dummy tree. So I had him rent a hoist lift, Swags gave me the ideal on one of his tree trimming posting. Cause this white boy ain't no climber...2ft off the ground I'm fine. . The hoist worked really well, we started at 8 and finished at 2. I started on another dummy tree between two sheds. Chunked it down till I had about 8 foot left standing. Took it down with all three the 036, 046, and 660. Then proceeded to take the cedar tree down. Which the 036 with the 18 bar shined. It was kinda of fun cutting and working up to the top. Then coming back down again. The worse one that keep my seat wiggling was the elm tree at the top of the reach of the hoist and the wind made it seem like I was dancing with it. But I made it through with a bit of adreline rush. Then went to the inside elm and had to delimb it around a nasty Poison Ivy vine. But all went well. Old Dried Elm is pretty tough. Never would have imagine that. All went pretty well, had a few saw issues. But will get them figured out.
Nice work. Glad everything went well and safely. I'm alittle leery of heights too, but have been in a tree a time or two and it's pretty fun. Nice job
Bet that cold one tastes good tonight Chvy... Yeah, that swayin in a bucket is an experience isn't it?
That hoist lift made the world of a difference, that arent as talented or gifted as Scotty. But when your dancing with the limb at 35 foot it makes it quite interesting. Just glad all went well...
And of course making sure the bucket & boom will not be in the path of the limb being cut or the tree jumping from the loss of the limb weight is important as well.
Well done, bud! Elms tough stuff for sure, wait til you split it! But it's a great firewood. Looks like you did a safe job piecing down the trees. Climbing is tough, and isn't for everyone. Lots of things can happen when you are up there... I've done hundreds of them, each and every one with its own set of challenges. I'd say you got it done just fine with the lift.
