I've been posting occasionally about all of the wildfire mitigation that I've been doing for my neighbors. I get a lot of free firewood - and hopefully some good karma by helping them. I do it all for free on my days off. My family is one of the younger families in a neighborhood full of retirees and war vets. I've befriended a lot of them. We all live on between 2 and 10 acres - most have around 5 acres. So there is a lot of work to be done. I cut down a bunch of dead, large diameter aspen trees for my neighbor a couple of days ago. Here is a truckload that I brought home. I know aspen isn't the best firewood, but it burns hot and clean, so I like it.
Good for you Cash. Many still do not realize you could heat you home with nothing but popple (aspen) like that. Oh, you might have to get up in the night to fill the stove again but it can be done. That is no doubt as big as any popple will get here. And just yesterday I found another one that broke off about 12' up. I might make a deer blind out of it because of the way it lays and because of where it is. About 20 yards from a good buck run!
You are absolutely right. I think the return air might help out on getting the house too hot. Got that hooked up and going now. Waiting on ole man winter.
