Her landlords driveway guy didnt come until four days after. Really long driveway with drifting too. No way we were getting out. House was on a cul de sac and we were shocked the road was cleared with a backhoe the next day after the storm. Took me two hours just to make a path from the door to the cars and do some shoveling around them. My cat was "stranded" at my place for four days as well. Good thing we had gone out for bread and milk beforehand!
I had to park on the road and walk through the 31" on my 900 ft long driveway. I finally made it to the door and couldn't open it (outswinging storm door). Looked inside to see my wife sipping a coffee. I did one 39" wide pass with the ride behind snowblower and went to bed. Did the whole driveway the next day with my 7 year old son and a 1971 single cylinder garden tractor.
The backhoe started clearing mid afternoon the next day. I ventured out "walking" down to the road to watch him and see the traffic on the main road. Quite a memorable storm.
Cutting,splitting,and stacking are the parts of firewood prep that is mention all the time.However we must also mention the work of digging out the stacks after big snows.
Man I’d kill for it just to get up to 80 degrees! Been in the 90s for awhile here and we’ve got awhile to go.
The storms I remember best is one we got about 5 years after we got married. Another was a big one at Gaylord; 36" of snow and next day all was again normal including school. Another at the Soo when something like 110" fell in 3 days.
