I feel like a zombie today....only about 4 hours of sleep last night. Going to try to get the floor finished, closet shelves installed, blinds installed, and maybe a little trim hung before morning.
Thanks for the kind words! I will echo them, don't pass up a chance to meet the legend himself, whenever we can get together again! He is a kind man, and a storehouse of knowledge.
Floor done. Blinds done. Closet shelves started but my domestic engineer had a design change so I need to make a parts run tomorrow.
I wish I had gotten the soaking rain. I did get some rain but not even 1/4". But, at least it was cloudy and cool so I didn't even have any fans, much less A/C going the last two days. My office heats up pretty good because of all the monitors and computers going since I'm working from home. Add to that that I have been working 11-12 hours, in a 9x9 room, and the outside high of 69* yesterday was perfect for just keeping windows open.
95f real temp predicted. 105f to 110f heat index. River day today followed by fresh sweetcorn and burgers on the grill. A true summer day here in the middle of nowhere! Stay cool everybody.
Here’s a picture for you Chaz ... your favorite insect....... this is the second one I’ve ran into today..... trying to clean my back driveway out... so I can lay some new gravel in.... these are ones with a attitude ones it heats up outside... I don’t screw with them... the black and red ones....
So campinspecter and I were buying oranges the other day and were talking about how good they have been. The produce man made a comment that they were from South Africa. I mentioned that when I was a kid, having oranges from South Africa would have been like Wow! He said yes, usually we get oranges from Australia right now but they weren't ready so these came in from South Africa. He totally missed the point I was trying to make. It was something to get oranges period when we were kids, never mind all the way from South Africa. It brought home to me how global our economy is and how our expectations of always having certain fruit and veggies available to buy all the time has taken over our buying habits. No longer is some produce bought only in season.
It was a special treat to get an orange in your Christmas stocking. I remember those days from back in the 50's.
campinspecter mentioned that because of market demand to provide the Mandarin type oranges at a specific time whether they are ready or not has really destroyed the purchasing of those oranges for us. The boxes are either really green or half rotten. They start showing up here around the end of October.
Just got stung.... surprise attack from a nest I didn’t see....... nothing a little brake fluid didn’t fix...
