I'll be getting more Maple tomorrow, pic 9462 is a Maple that I'll cut with a pole saw, pic 9463 & 64 are the same Maple that I'll use the pole saw on too, pic 9465 is a damaged Maple from the ice storm, I'll be felling that.
Always good to have a plan Woody. I am going to take advantage of the cool down here and get after some splitting in the morning. Supposed to be about 55 here tonight. Got a good fire going in the pit now, myself, my bride and the dogs will sit out and watch for fireworks going off around us.
Becareful and enjoy the work. We got down to about 47 here in southern WV, last night. It was a nice day yesterday with cooler temps, I split the rest of the White Oak I had bucked up. It is only supposed to be about 74 for a high today, so I will be working on bucking up another nice dead WO, I laid down yesterday, might even split some.
Everything went great, I even fell two Sugar Maples,one dead and the other was damaged by the ice storm.
Looks good there Zap! That dead stuff looks almost petrified, should burn a long time when it meets the stove. Im guessing your temps stayed down making for a comfortable work day. We hit about 80, so naturally we were out all day!
That dead maple looks to be prime! Zap, we got a bit over 4" yesterday and another .3" today. We didn't hit 70 yesterday but did this afternoon but it is really windy too. We've had several windy days but looks like it may settle down starting tomorrow. Good. Better biking weather if not windy.
I wish we had more like that dead Maple. The storms are rolling in, sounds like we might lose power, 60 + mph winds.
I resplit a piece of Oak I put up the beginning of June, and my old MM showed 26%........I think that's the way it tells me the % is off the charts. It's for 16'-17', so no worries.
