Thanks Clemsonfor, I figured out how to do a poll. I certainly did not think you were advocating that I build a custom saw then give it away and eat the cost. I may have been born yesterday but not late last night! LOL You are correct about the 21 days extending the timeframe however I have to do this build in my spare time, customers come first.

Moderators, Clemsonfor kindly brought it to my attention that I may have transgressed on some site rules. Could you please check and inform me if I have. In the meantime I will suspend any further action on this thread until I have your results.

    Thank you

So long as the saw is advertised for sale in The Classifieds, I see no problem with the plan. I say put the polls up early in the week and have them close by the weekend. 5-7 days should be PLENTY of time for our regular readers to chime in.

Don't feel bad, I don't know any of them! However being a Mod elsewhere, I have a pretty good idea of what is OK and what is not.

Your fine. Your not advertising in the links that you provided. If they were not appropriate, a mod would have deleted, and sent you a message. As you said yourself Killians, you are a Mod elsewhere. You know the rules yourself.

Keep on doing what your doing brother.

Digging around today in my parts storage, I came across one additional C/P kit that I am going to add to the top end choices. It is a T Landrum Wicked Work Saw ported Meteor 50mm C/P kit, complete with DP Muffler. New never used.

This way you can choose to have you dream saw already ported when you receive it! I did not port this cylinder, I purchased it from Terry a little over a year ago and never used it. IIRC, it cost me $400 but for this build I will price it at $200!

I like the Xpw top end myself. I can get good gains from either oem set. Never tried a meteor but terry usually makes a good running 372.

I think i want to vote for the ported top end too. That guy knows what doing. Then again oem xpw top end sounds good. But meteor stuff is usually good. This is a tough one.

TLandrum WWS top end is my vote too. I've heard the 50mm top-ends (OEM) actually run better than the XPWs? Any truth to that?

I've seen some that did but the 3 xpw I ported were a little stronger than the 50 mm top end.

Here are the choices for the top end on the custom built saw.

    1) OEM 50mm standard C/P.
    2) Meteor 50mm C/P Ported by TLandrum. If you choose this option you are also choosing for the matching TLandrum DP muffler.
    3) OEM 51.4mm XPW C/P.
    4) HyWay 52mm BBK with standard piston.
    5) HyWay 52mm BBK with OEM Stihl 064 52mm piston.

Voting will begin tomorrow Sunday July 6 and run for 7 days.

Here are your choices for carburetor and intake tract.

    1) Walbro 12-1(B) and standard filter setup, will use the standard filter cover.
    2) Walbro 12-1(B) and HD filter setup, uses the HD filter cover.
    3) Walbro RWJ-4-1 (X-Torq) with modified intake with standard filter and filter cover.
    4) Walbro RWJ-4-1 (X-Torq) with modified intake with HD filter and filter cover.

Things to know, adapting the larger RWJ-4-1 (X-Torq) intake setup uses components from the 372XT, 385/390XP and carries with it some minor drawbacks. Because the carb is larger it pushes the HD filter a tiny bit to the rear, resulting in slightly crushing the top rear of the HD filter. In order to use the RWJ-4-1 the carb boot from the 385/390XP must be used, this setup does not seal the carb box as well as the standard 372XP setup. Lastly, the RWJ-4-1 requires the blue choke lever from the 372XT be used, which is slightly longer than the standard choke lever resulting in the lever protruding about a 1/16 inch further out of the saw when in the off position.

Voting on this portion will begin Sunday July 13.
