    Got a little work done to the coop this evening. Put the ridge board up on braces and cut about half of the rafters. Nothing is fastened on yet. I just want to make sure its all gonna work out first.

    Tomorrow the sheathing will go on the coop walls. I don't have saw horses so I've been using the coop floor as my work space. I will finish up the rafters and get them nailed in to place tomorrow as well. This is all assuming the weather will cooperate....

    Yesterday was spent cutting the rest of the rafters and nailing them in place. I got 3 of the four walls sheathed too. Its starting to come together. I took a break for an hour or two to go try and find an Amish guy that does metal rooves. Apparently he sells metal roof sheets for pretty cheap. Unfortunately he wasn't home but hopefully I'll hear from him Monday morning so I can get the roof done soon.

    I don't know if I will work on it today or not. Maybe I'll put the chicken wire up. We'll see...

    The run is 24 x 8 feet with 4 feet of that being under the coop. I will put a 4x4 dusting box under the coop for them. We're down to 1 hen left cause the critters have been hard on our flock this year (seen a red fox and a bobcat in the area). We have 12 or 13 hens coming in the fall.

    More coop work yesterday. I didn't put the wire up sunday cause after I thought about it I decided I didn't want to work around it. That will be the last step.

    I picked up metal for the roof from an Amish guy yesterday. I got the metal, the ridge cap and matching screws all for cheaper than the metal alone would cost at lowes or HD :rootintootin:

    I didn't get to take pics last night cause it got dark so pics are from this morning....I know the rules here :p

    Here is the metal. The top hen wanted charcoal grey for the coop.

    We raised 3 turkeys one year. Birds were a lot of fun. We would let them out after work to do a free range. When we were on the ATV the would follow us around. When it was time to put them back in, Holly would "herd" them back in. She was really good with them.

    Just catching up here! The builds are looking great guys. I'm loving all the different ideas!

    We lost one over night. The one hen had her vent blocked by poo.... must have happened the night before. I was able to clear it that morning with soapy warm water, but it became impacted again by evening. I clean the area again, put her in the coop.... found dead this morning. Sometimes you can fix em, sometimes you can't. They are just chickens, yes.... but are important here.

    Metal is on the roof :dancer:
    I still have to trim the excess off of the one end but at least I can work in the rain now if needed. Its not the prettiest roofing job ever but it is done.
