I have been slaving away the last 3 weekends replacing windows and a sliding glass door to the house. I had to clean up some storm damage this morning. So this afternoon; since it is a holiday, I wanted to do a fun project. So I got the tractor and loaded the biggest power pole the electric coop had given me when they replaced all the power poles a few years ago and drove it down to the shooting range. Then I marked the pole up with a chalk line and ripped it in half with the MS440. And built a foot bridge across the creek to make it easier to cross.
The logs they are resting on are notched out like for a log cabin. That has made them pretty darn stable, but I am going to put a 10" spike through them into the notched logs and then rebar through the notched logs into the ground. I also need to tie each section together in the center of the span. So I will lag bolt a scrap of the ripped pole under the span. That should stiffen it and it will move as one not separately. Also I was maybe going to run a cable around the big red maple on the right in case of a bad flood. No trout in my part of Virginia. Gotta go to the mountains.
