Had to run an errand when i got home and drove by this. Luckily had to come home the same way so i stopped and grabbed the smalls...beech! Very recent blow down maybe from the deluge thunderstorm we had late Friday afternoon. Town had cleared limbs from road. Had enough room to pull halfway off road. Nice straight trunks so ill go back and cut the rest soon. Wooded area town property and just over five minutes from home to boot IMG_2749.JPG IMG_2748.JPG IMG_2747.JPG IMG_2746.JPG

Not a fan of this hot weather but I would certainly grab that if I happened upon it.

Any in your woods Joe? Try it and you will like it. Splits pretty easily, seasons fast too. About the same a sugar maple IMO!

We have a few young ones but they’re looking very healthy. There’s one huge old grandpa beech on the other side of the property with a million little ones coming up behind it. Can’t remember ever having cut one. I know where there’s an old stand way out in the forest. Stopped the ATV just to check them out. Way too far to bring those home tho :)

Funny you mention that Brad. One of our "alternative" FM stations has the motto " everything is south of here".
Nice variety of music on < WERU.ORG > : jazz, celtic, blues, rock, bluegrass, zydeco. Butt , a definite progressive bent on their discussion programs.

Went back and cut what i didnt take from Monday. Felled the spar. One broken top wouldnt let go so i bucked as far as i could reach. Hot day but luckily it was fully shaded. IMG_2761.JPG IMG_2762.JPG
Got home and splitting area was in full sun. Need PU empty for tomorrow so rather than unload rounds, i split em all this evening after Supper. Rare for me to split this much in one session, let alone in the Summer! IMG_2764.JPG
