I overheated my Husky 455 last year and it blued the clutch. I've used it a lot since then without further problems. Just wondering if I need to replace that clutch?
If the springs are not allowing the clutch to engage at a lower than normal idle rpm then ( lost their temper ,and strength) , and it engages normally ,and doesn’t slip , I’d run it .
Yep the heat can affect the clutch springs making them weak. The indicator is the chain will not stop moving when saw is at idle. You might also check the grease in the clutch bearing you might have boiled it all out. Other wise no worries.
I don’t know about the 455, but a nice thing about a Husqvarna is you can grease the clutch bearing with a needle greaser at that hole at the end of the crank shaft. Just need to remove the clutch cover to get to it, like you were removing that bar anyway.
The 455 does not have that feature that I know of. But you can take the clutch off and grease the bearing and put new springs in the clutch. I have had to do mine.
