How about any of you catch his shows, read his books or cooked any of his recipes? Great social distancing tactics he shows by hunting on public land and that’s been before all “the Bug” stuff began.
I think my boys have watched every episode of Meateater on Netflix at least a couple times. Listened to him a couple times on JRE....seems like a solid dude.
This. I can’t help but appreciate the fact that he cleanly makes his cuts and helps identify them. There’s nothing distasteful of his hunts and that puts an even better sense of respect for the animals as well. Use EVERYTHING.
Yep count me as a fan as well. I usually listen to the weekly podcast they do but have fallen a couple of weeks behind. I havent watched any of the new season of the show yet either.
Sounds like the podcasts are his popular outlet. Can’t hear those unfortunately but if they figured out how to subtitle a podcast....
I watch his TV shows and agree with all the above. He seems very grounded and realistic on his shows with a bit of the philosopher and a smidge of poet thrown in!
Nope, never heard of him I'm a fan of his MeatEater show. He has a very good vid on gutting a deer that I watch every hunting season as a refresher. Check out Hank Shaw too. He has a great FB group called Hunt Gather Cook.
Ditto on that. He’s been around in that life enough share a bit. Many dream to get half the animals he hunts, so I understand that he brings in memories because he was taught by the right people to be holistic about his craft and why that memory was good for him as a learning experience. Not that it applies to everyone but with hunting, all of its reading about the animals, guns to use, techniques, training Etc. It can seem extensive and perhaps overwhelming to remember details like this so I find it hard to measure all that out and give it the respect it deserves.
I am a big fan of meat eater as well. I enjoy that it's as much about the care of the carcass after the kill as the hunt itself. Killing a monster of the species happens sometimes but if not he's still grateful for the fresh protein. And his recipe for goose pastrami is the only way my wife has ever gone for seconds on goose.
Theres 2 seminars in Pa. n 1 in Md. thats reasonable driving distance. All of them are postponed until early 2021. The wife n i were goin to buy tickets to one of the 3....but there practically sold out. I imagine since the “Bug” crap....it made it harder to get tics for future events....maybe someday well go....
I’d definitely go to a seminar if it were near me. “Current situation” sucks but I’d rather err on caution. If online seminars can be given with an interpreter, this could be a better option, although we’d probably miss the opportunity for signatures and hand shakes. Chit I shook hands with maybe one, two people in the last 4 months. , I’m used to doing that quite a bit.
I've never watched the shows however based on recommendations, I did just add his cookbook to my big game cookbook collection.
