Hey TribeFan440 , Welcome to the campfire, pull up a stump and set a bit! I have had a 260 pro for several years as well as a couple larger saws and the 260 is my "Go to". It is light and quick for the smaller stuff but will do the job when you need it for bigger stuff. Great choice and glad to make your acquaintance!

Don't listen to Dennis. He only has years of experience and knowledge.
Stick to shorter bars at first. They're easier to keep sharp, and safer. Save the longer bars for when you get up to where Dennis and I are in aged status .:faint:
Besides with training and skill that 36" DBH oak can be cut with a 16" bar.

My math says 18" bar...unless the tree is not round and it measures more like 32" at some point...but even that is a PITA...I like to have a little more bar than I need, rather than coming up short...:hair:

Hopefully you know that because I posted that here somewhere before and not because you are some kind of firewood stalker...wait a minute, you are a firewood stalker! :D

ok, when it devolves into "that's what she said" jokes, now I know it's my kind of group! BTW, 18" bar. I was going to go with the 20, but I thought 18 was versatile enough to handle most of the trees i'll encounter. Speaking of PPE, does anyone have any experience with Arborwear's RAC chaps? I was going to head over to their store in town to grab some so I can get this show on the road.

You're gonna fit in fine around here then

    Welcome aboard TribeFan440

Nice saw you picked. That's my next saw as well. Good power to weight ratio, and will handle what most of us deal with.

    Short answer.. No

But something is better than nothing

I got away with years of neglectful cutting with no serious injuries, but the odds catch up with a person sooner or later.

    Better prepared than sorry

Look forward to some chip pics

    TribeFan440 .
If you order chaps ( not chain saw pants ) be aware that the length of the chaps are measured from the beltLine , not the inseam .

To add to that story .... I ordered a set of full wrap 9 layered SwedenPro’s in 32-34 . Made pretty spiffy looking peddle pusher PPE . Luckily , my wife is 5’ nothing . They are now Part of Her cutting gear .
