Maybe we should have a separate thread or forum where our members could post their wish list saws and then one another member across the country spots it they could snag it for them. Kind of like cross country adopt a pet but with chainsaws.
Got an assist from MikeInMa and Mrs. MikeInMa on another 346 today while searching FBM about 20 miles up the road. I check it now and again but can’t respond without the assistance. Didn’t pan out. Thanks again MikeInMa !
The other 346 was my first time replying on FBM. Kinda hate it when they dont post a phone number. Dunno if FBM allows it or not though. CL allows phone numbers. I have a couple email response to free wood offers on CL and no response. I even gave them my phone number to call or text.
Had a 550XPG, dumped it and bought another ported 346XP and am having another 346 built right now. The 550 was a turd and hard starting on warm starts to boot. Auto tunes blow. I'll take the 3xx XP series any day. The 357 and 395 in particular are very special.
I'm with ya! My buddy has a 550XP. Ran it for a bit right after running my ported 346XP all day and I was really disappointed in the 550XP. No way I'd trade my ported 346XP for a 550XP....if they all perform like his did.
Well I tell ya what Buckwheat. At the Houston County Fair two years ago 3 strangers from out of town showed up and showed the locals what for. I watched one guy make a few test cuts with his "346XP" and OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! I then made an announcement to the rest of the boys, "WHO HAS THE BIGGEST SAW HERE"? One guy, a logger grabbed his Stihl 880 and I told him to race this guy wit the 346. He said "this is just stupid". I said this will be closer than you think. The horn blew, chips flew and the 346 was done with all 3 cuts when the Stihl was halfway through the his 2nd cut.
is a stock 550 vs a ported 346 apples to apples? I’ve got two 346, a 353 convert and a great shape 346OE. Neither one ported. I’d reach for the 550 over them. I do have one 550 that suffered the off idle bog that I tried to cure a bunch of times. With that condition, it wouldn’t leave the garage. Finally got rid of the AT-7 carb and replaced it with the AT-12 and it’s my go to 50cc.
