Usually a mouse nest or two. Never seen wasp nests in stacks, thankfully! Surprisingly never seen a garter snake, thankfully because I really really HATE snakes!!

Recently I found a few wasp larvae that were in various stages of growth. I was splitting some pine and you could see channels eaten in it. And hiding inside the channels wasps, some were yellow and seemed soft but would wiggle when you touched them. I was a lot more careful with the black ones. They looked like they were only waiting for their wings to dry then they could crawl out and do whatever wasps do. Makes me hesitate to bring the wood inside.

    Brad,
You are almost as good of a photographer as you are a hoarder.
    ...………………..I did say almost. LOL

It amazes me how you are as dedicated to taking pictures of things like this as well as your scrounges. Great job !!

    How about, under the stacks?

As I emptied a wood rack, 2 years ago, I noticed some disturbed dirt, along the ground. As more wood was removed, there was a hole. Guessing a groundhog. I poured a little gas into it, and covered lightly. A few days later, I packed it full of dirt, using a shovel handle to pack it in.

I know the varmints are still in the wooded area. Just need to keep watch. My racks don't need added help in falling over.

That spider gives me the heebie-jeebies. I don’t mind snakes one bit, but spiders. No thanks.

Mouse nests and squirrel nests. Other than that, ground hogs. Not sure how many holes we have out there right now. I caught a few of those critters this spring, but they multiply so there are always more. But for now most have left here and went to the ag fields to eat so no doubt they've also made new homes. They will be back though; they always do come back.

timusp40 I hope you are doing well and the heat has not got to you too bad.
