Ammo

Outside of .22 LR- (almost non-existent), I've been looking for decent .223 for a bit, at a good price. Well, got a call today from a contractor asking if I was interested. 900 rnds of American Eagle for $ 405.00. I said "Sure".
So the big "Snap On " truck shows up at the shop- lo and behold, the driver has an FFL, is an instructor, and delivers on his route. So, 900 rnds. of 55 grain ball, and another 60 of gray tip for $405. I checked Cabelas, I did OK on this deal, plus delivered .
And now he knows I'm a gunsmith, so we're going to work a few deals in the future, while he sources a new Glock for me. Today was a win.

 

Good deal. I'm reloading my 223 now.

 

I'm still waiting for prices to go down to "normal".

Last time I bought .223 it was about .25/rd. Bricks of .22 for $20ish.

I'm not talking about "back in the day either"... 2-3 years ago.. before the gun stupidness hit into full effect.

 

Less than .50 c/rnd, not bad. Delivered with a great networking partner.

Looks like some decent deals out there, better than what I paid. I'll chalk this up to another impulse purchase. But at $0.42 a round, I'll not gripe too much, at least these days. Now, if someone has a line on .22 LR, I'm all ears.

I don't know about you guys, but I feel better with at least 3-4K of my preferred calibers on hand. Just my opinion, I could be wrong. (not likely....)

 

I bought 2 bricks of .22's yesterday. 1 brick a week the sign said. I had my son with me so I got 1000rds.

 

I like to have a few more than that per caliber. I need more 22 with 3 shooters a lot can disappear quickly.

 

I usually keep a few hundred rounds for each gun. I can't afford to stockpile it... Or shoot!

 

I know what you mean. Reloading is how to afford to shoot a lot of rifle. It still don't help the 22 shortage.

 

I'm still shooting reloads I did and stock piled from the Clinton era.

The .22 thing is what caught me with my pants down. Thats all good now that I can drive 25mins 1 way and get them.

I have used their 9mm, 45acp and 5.56 with no issues what do ever. When in stock their blaster ammo is a bargain. Sort of scratch & dent that you can't find the blemish on.

When this shortage was about 6 months in. I was hearing that out in idaho or washington, somewhere like that they had 22 ammo on pallets at normal price and buy as much as u want. We had a tread about 22 shortage on a tractor forum. None of us could find it other than the $80-100/500 . He kept talking about buying 10 bricks. His ammo lasted for just a few more months till it dried up and he was like the rest of us. Not sure why they were so far behind the rest of us?

A guy and I at work were just too late we were gonna fly out and rent a mini van and fill it and drive back and triple our money.
