The word “trousers” is an uncommon noun because it is singular at the top and plural at the bottom.

Speaking of trousers, why is a pair of trousers, or pants called a pair? Because of there being two legs, I suppose, But then we also have a pair of gloves, and a pair of socks, etc. Then I ask, why not a pair of bras? They usually come in pairs, don’t they?

    CONFESSION AND REPENTANCE

During the Flood Noah demonstrated obedience to God under incredibly difficult circumstances. His obedience waned, though, when the earth dried. In this particular case, Noah made wine, got drunk and passed out. His son, Ham, discovered Noah in this dishonorable position and mocked him in front of his brothers. When Noah woke up, he cursed Ham. It's interesting to note that, while Ham was wrong and deserved consequences, Noah wasn't exactly accountable for his poor example.

As parents, we need to humbly admit sin even when it is commingled with the sin of our children. If we fail to take responsibility for our mistakes and focus on the mistakes of our children instead, we provide an example of blaming and excuse-making. Our kids may conclude that the rules do not apply to people in positions of power or authority.

Our willingness to confess and repent provides a powerful example for our kids.

Noah, a man of the soil, proceeded to plant a vineyard. When he drank some of its wine, he became drunk and lay uncovered inside his tent. Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father naked and told his two brothers outside.
    Genesis 9:20‭-‬22 NIV

Speak up for those who can’t
    By Pastor Mark Jeske

Life is full of inequalities, isn’t it? People have vastly different incomes; vastly different net worth; different levels of education, access to professional services, physical health, and personal networks. Jesus noticed all that at his time two thousand years ago, predicting to his disciples that there would always be poor people and victims of catastrophic circumstances like war, the neglect and cruelty of others, or of their own poor choices.

But that is no excuse for casual exploitation or shunning. On the contrary, it brings delight to God when people whom he has blessed with a surplus in some area choose to share with those who struggle. The church is at its best when it matches the vigor of its preaching with the vigor of its ministries of caring. Sharing food and clothing come to mind. Working to bridge the education gap in low-income communities is another.

A mysterious king named Lemuel was given a page of Scripture for his life proverbs, and he offers yet another way for the strong to help the weak: “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves” (Proverbs 31:8). Our world is blessed by all the people who have chosen to invest time, energy, and passion into advocacy for people with disabilities. Or those who defend the right of unborn children to be born and not be aborted.

In heaven the sufferings and struggles will be over. For now, they are opportunities for love in action
