I was picking up my son from my parents this afternoon and when I pulled out of the driveway I realized their neighbor across the street had a few large rounds out at the street with a sign that said free firewood. I pulled up and loaded them into the truck and realized that the sign also had an arrow pointing up the driveway to two more piles. I backed up, loaded the bed and went home to unload then came back for the rest. Fortunately only about 8 minutes to our place. I managed two pretty good size loads after halving and quartering a few of the bigger rounds. Today's grab is the fresh stuff in the foreground to the top of the pile. I normally don't throw new rounds on top of split stuff but i didn't have much time to make a spot for it with the tractor so it was a turn and burn drop off lol.
On the ground. Bucked to size Free Dilly Dilly!!! Only way to better would to be already split and delivered.
Delivered would've been nice! After a pretty hot day at work the last thing I felt like doin was loading big rounds into the truck. But hey I was already sweaty, what's a little more haha. buZZsaw BRAD yea easy grabs like that are hard to drive by. I haven't really been scrounging too much because we have a fairly large log pile but that was a no brainer
Yea it's always nice to add to the pile. Now I just need to get out there and start making it smaller!
Those are the best! I've been on my way to a score that is guaranteed mine in someones back yard, and stopped just down the street at the free wood sign to cut up their load of wood instead that day.
