Saw a guy post free wood on Facebook market place not even 10 minutes from here. Some pine, maple and a bunch of oak all cut up, quite a bit cut to 16” or close enough. Backed in this morning and got this loaded up in 20 minutes.
Just curious as to why dont you take the oddball lengths? PITA to process or do you generate enough of your own with all the wood you process?. Any customers for the shorts/nuggets etc?
I personally hate oddball length cuts. If I see a posting for free wood in all short lengths, I will pass it by. Harder for stacking along with regular length splits, as well as trying to accurately calculate how much firewood I have.
I make a pen with the good stackable splits on the sides and ends and chuck the uglies into the centre. Given that the uglies are a lot of the time unstackable crotches, they seem to be denser and burn longer. Or so my imagination tells me.
