Started working on this as soon as the snow melted enough, rocking an atv, a trailer and an electric wood splitter. Stacked right in the middle of a windy as hell field, will put a sheet of plastic insulation on top held by bricks. You can't see it but there's another stack 90% completed right behind this one. This is aspen, getting a few cords of 8 foot birch logs delivered by one of my neighbors soon. Hopefully will be dry enough by end of fall to throw right in my basement!
Only time will tell if it gets dry enough by next winter. At least you are off to a good start. Get a moisture meter so you can check on your progress
Trees were chopped, bucked and stacked in fall of last year. Split and stacked a few days ago. They got a pretty good head start!
Nice stack! It is always nice to look at stacks of firewood. In Sweden we often talk about spring as the drying season for firewood. So my bet is that the wood you finished just after snow melting will be dry enough.
5 pallets long times 2 stacks wide would be about 2 cords right? This is higher that 4 feet so probably more than that come to think of it.
