What's up today (bullchiting) thread.

So glad we got to talk at the GTG last year, brother.

 

Up early this morning. campinspecter headed out for a load of firewood. I am going over to see Mom for the day. Looks like it is going to break out into sunshine a little later.

We had rain off and on yesterday. Friends of ours have a sailboat and it was fun watching them sailing in and out of the calm streaks on the water. Not a lot of pleasure boating going on right now. Only local boats going out fishing.

I see more snakes and snake shed in my stacks than rodents.

But I do generally find one or two chipmunk nests every year

 

My ground hog (s) went away this year. I didn't even have to give them the dirt naps. No idea if another neighbor did the dirty work or not, but I know they are gone.

 

Ours get the Holly treatment


She got another yesterday.

Decided not to post a pic... this one got a bit torn up.

 

Holly is a good girl. Has she ever received any battle scars from the ground hog skirmishes?

 

We get a few rodents. My son says it is because I feed the birds. I enjoy bird watching, so yes I am going to feed the birds. I can't do much else I enjoy. He has a dog. A husky with one blue and one brown eye. That do is the best mouser I have ever seen. He is relentless in his hunt for squirrels and mice and rats. He'll dig deep to get at them.

 

Fortunately not one


Hopefully a streak that continues.

She's pretty good at getting them at the neck from behind, after that a vigorous shake and they're done

She's a born hunter for sure.

She'll sit outside of their entry/exit point under the trailer for hours.

So far the rabbits under the shed have managed avoiding her.. but I'm sure that'll change at some point.

 

Ok, gotta get stuff done today. I've got a lawn to mow. That will be a little more difficult with the overhead cable and phone lines being buried and there are a few holes in the yard, with flags and paint markings. I'll obviously leave all that alone, but it won't be a pretty mow job in the back yard due to these things.

 

Growing up, the neighbor's tabby cat, who was a great rodent hunter, came back one day with a big old 2"x 3" patch of Skin gone from his neck. Yes, skin. we saw a ground hog in their backyard that day. Not sure if it was the reason, but Max got his butt whooped. He was a big cat too.
