Now I just have to cut and split the rest Welcomed our new daughter 3 weeks ago so I have slowed down a bit but I hope to make a dent in it this week.
I'm not sure just exactly where you are located, but where I've benefitted from assistance from other members, I'd be happy to travel and help you out. It's not too difficult to maintain social distancing, when working outdoors. If interested, drop me a pm and we can move forward from there.
Congratulations on the daughter! Happy times! Not sure about you but around here things tend to slow down a lot in making firewood in the summer. Once it gets into the 80's, my desire to be working at it slows dramatically.
Don't remember reading about riots and uprising like we have today a few hundred years ago....OH....Thats right...Guys were too busy Planting crops, building barns, getting firewood ready and the ladies were taking care of the little ones, making bread for the day, then lunch, then dinner and also making there own clothes....Lets not forget about milking the cows and goats, taking care of the horses, digging wells and putting up fences.....And of course schooling the older ones...I just guess they didn't have time for all the extra nonsense....Cut/Split/ Stack...Repeat
You've got a nice stacking location there, against that foundation. Congratulations to you and your wife on the birth of your daughter!
Had a few hours today of cutting. Share a splitter with my wife's uncle across the street so getting ready for when it's my turn again. The cylinder was leaking so I replaced it, went smoother than I expected. No more spraying oil. I may try to rebuild the old one to have a spare ready just in case, or if I find a cheap splitter online that someone doesn't want to repair. It was hot and humid today. My wood time will certainly get shorter as it warms up even more. I have a few logs 36+ across that I cut into rounds today and got lots of smaller stuff cut to length too. I'll get some pictures this weekend hopefully.
Congrats on your new child. Start them young so you have a good helper for many years!!!! My helper is stuck on her cell phone and is mega lazy....get ahead of the curve!!!congrats again and nice work.
There is a bunch of big pine that I got with a free load from a tree guy. He wasn't totally upfront with what he'd drop off. Needless to say that was the last time I'll take a load like that. Fortunately I have a fire pit and now when the family wants to have a fire in the pit I have plenty of wood and don't have to worry about touching the stacks. I split it here and there and just throw it in a separate pile. I still have a few cords worth of maple to cut up that's not at the wood area yet so I will have plenty of "worthwhile" work to do.
