I’ve been lurking here for a few weeks, happy I finally made an account. I found this site while looking for suggestions on replacing my CraftsVarna saw. I love all the hoard and saw pics! This is a pic of almost all of the 2 cords of log length white oak I scored for free from a local land conservation group.
Welcome, fellow New Englander. Out of curiosity, is firewood hard/expensive to come by on the island?
Welcome to the FHC acknative25 Great to have you. Lots of knowledge and laughter here. Great bunch of folks. We love pics of everything and anything firewood. Been to BI many times but never to your island. Is there a lot of wood to be had out there? Looks like some black locust mixed in too?
You ain't new, you been doin' wood fer ah while! Welcome to the land of Woodenheads! This is the place we share our knowledge as well as learn form others. Don't forget the beer!
An islander. Sweet. Welcome. I hope to be in Hyannis in a couple of weeks. Nice picture of your wood splits. Keep them coming.
Not 100% sure, haven't bought any yet! We've only had our Jotul for 3 yrs. I think a cord goes for $300-$350 in season, plenty of people sell it. I've been lucky finding the free stuff so far.
There's a ton of wood out here, at least it seems that way to me. Good eye, the black locust is from our property, that's the stuff that didn't make the "cut" for fence posts. I've never been to BI!
Welcome to the woodnut channel. Once your here you can never go back too ...oil...propane......coal again.
Lederhosen! You dang betcha! I picked up a pair while cycling in the Bavarian Alps several years and pounds ago. No pictures for obvious reasons!
Nice way to make an entrance. Welcome to FHC. As you have probably figured out, we like dogs, beer and pics. Lots of pics.
Welcome to the forum acknative25. That looks like an interesting place where you live. That must be interesting cutting the wood that short. At least it looks really short in the picture. How long can you get heat from that stove? Do you need to run furnace during the night?
My wife pokes fun at my “little loggies” all the time haha. Our Jotul seems to perform better with lots of shorter wood, rather then fewer but longer pieces. We can heat all day with 3-4 arm loads. We usually put a few larger logs on before going to bed, and the house stays decently warm. It’s not our sole heat source. We do have a passive fan for it.
Welcome to the club you poor soul. I joined earlier in the year. I started this spring with nothing, now have almost 7.5 cords CSS. 5 of it was purchased from a board member to get me thru next season. I've got another 4-5 cords in rounds I have to split. On my way to putting up about 15-17 cords by fall, which will get me into the 3 year rotation. Looking for another chainsaw already...
