There's been a recent "spike" in kindling production in the Larue household...

I got a couple of hours off from daddy day care and overtime on the FD today. I decided to split a bunch of large Ponderosa logs into kindling for next winter.
It was a wonderful, and extremely fresh smelling few hours - until I got rained out. Check out this old, bent, rusty spike I found in one of the logs. I'd love to know the story behind it. This tree came from a forested area about a half a mile from my house - deep in the woods.

P.S. My title was a tip of the hat to buZZsaw BRAD and his catchy titles.

 

Pretty common size of spike nail to find in a tree that's on a fence line or Maybe near a campground. Did that pine come off public land?

 

Came from public land. National forest. No campgrounds or roads nearby. I hauled it out on my ATV.

 

Part of a hunting stand?

Hi Brad. Metal isn’t super common. I live in a pretty remote area. Not too much foot traffic up here. But I do occasionally find some weird odds and ends.

 

I will comment eventually. I am still ill over the Porta Potty Puns (isn't that called alliteration?)
