Trillium I see here has a variegated leaf. Is that ivy pic some kind of joke? I could post ivy pics that would stand your hair on end; I'm talkin' waist-deep and thick, not a couple of grounders with three leaves. I could cut this stuff for kindling!
Yeah, we had arm-diameter vines on many of our trees, when I moved in three years ago. I killed all of it, at this point, so all we have left is ground creeper stuff like this.
I'd have a tough time eradicating it from my entire woods. It is almost everywhere to some degree. Hard to say how much different it would be today if I hadn't let them log this place twenty years ago. I have to think that when the Ash Borer gets here, the understory will bloom with more available light, and quite a few Oaks have gone down with the droughts and what-not. There is one ridge where there's almost no underbrush at all; I love going back there...
