Not paying enough attention, I grabbed this rope while mowing yesterday. Stalled the machine. Drove it into the garage and pulled the deck and found one of the blades, nut and grease cup were missing.
Immediately wondered if they had got thrown out from under the deck.

Found the nut and the blade right at the scene

Found the grease cup about 15’ away right in the path from the scene to the garage.

And it gave me the push I needed to clean a couple snowshovels worth of grass from the deck and grease the shiv’s.

I thought for sure I’d never find the nut or grease cup. Imagined finding the old blade with a new blade. Ting!

Ha! When you lose something like that it is almost never found until much, much later, if at all.

Good find. Paint the parts blaze orange, in case you're not so lucky the next time

My neighbor just drug his 10ft brush hog out for the first time this year . Started cutting ,and noticed it was only mowing 5 ft wide . Sure enough , the blades stump jumper ,and everything on that side was gone . He’s 80+ ,and can’t remember which field he cut last . I figure it fell off while transporting after the last cut . I told him if that was me , I’d find the old stuff within 10 feet after putting on the new blades , etc ...

Stuff like that is easy to find. All ya gotta do is go through the trouble of getting the replacements first.............

Yep ! That’s what he did . $500+ in parts . Should take less than 15 minutes to locate the originals onthe first mowing !

Sounds like it is time to break out with the impact gun and really get those blades on tight. Glad you found everything and got er cleaned up.

I just sharpened the blades on one of my mowers and saw that it could use some good ole fashion cleaning too.

Lucky guy! It could have tumbled over and took out the other blades.

Lucky for sure! Little Loctite goes a long way. And honestly, I'd rather deal with big rope than small. I've hit twine by accident and what a mess.
