Cut this for a friend. It’s been standing dead along the drive at their farm. After notch and starting back cut I could see by the chips and how the saw felt that there were lots of bad parts to the tree. I ain’t a pro so when I got the backcut it to where I was getting nervous I stopped and he brought the front loader up to finish it off. Nobody got hurt and I feel good that my decision to call in a heavy hitter to finish it off was the right call.
good call. that is a biggun. looks rotted to nothing from the picture. I always count on hitting metal somewhere on those stumps by roads.
Surprisingly most of the outer to a thickness of 6” was still pretty solid. The innards were another story, went from wet slimy slop to light as a feather pieces.

With that big thing and all the rot in the center you made the right call. You know that is part of being a good wood cutter too.
I just bought a roll of Archer semi chisel. After initial stretch, which for me seemed to be a lot, it held up really well. I’m gonna stick with it, easier on the wallet.
